  I read the book of Enoch a few years ago and thought it was a very interesting read. Whenever I brought it up to a JW, they'd be all mamby pamby about it not belonging in the bible, yet couldn't give me good reasons why.
  
  I'm going to print out your post and read it on my lunch break tomorrow. My brain is too tired to understand the full import of your writings this evening. But thanks for all the hard work!

  'Gay weddings' are legal in the UK from today. How do you feel about it?

  hundreds of gay couples are preparing to form civil partnerships in the coming weeks as the law changes after decades of campaigning.

  at least 1,200 ceremonies are confirmed as being scheduled already and registrars are preparing for the first ceremonies, with couples permitted to register from monday morning.

  Was Rutherford a good lawyer? Or was he Bluffing?

  was rutherford a good lawyer?.

  this is a question i have asked myself several times.. the facts are tha rutherford took a course in shorthand, and worked in a law office for a time, and then became a lawyer (passed the bar) by passing an oral examination given by a panel of lawyers.. does that qualify for an education in law?.

  rutherford, as it is well know, filled in for the travelling circuit judge a few times, for a total of four days.. years later it was published that rutherford was a member of the "new york bar", but there is a question if that group even existed.. there is no record that i know of indicating rutherford ever won a case in court of law.. when ct russell sued the brooklyn daily eagle for libel over a cartoon of him that they published, another lawyer instead of rutherford was used (although rutherford was there and involved in the case, he just was no the lead lawyer).

  Abortion

  i don't know if any of you brits saw the 'this morning' show today but they had a woman on it whos mother had tried to abort her at 7 and a half months pregnant, apparentely they gave her mum some stuff to drink which burns the baby inside and out, but fortunately this baby survived and now as a woman she is campaigning for anti abortion laws to be brought in.. so, what are your views on abortion?

  Here's the beauty of the situation. If you don't believe in abortion. Don't get one. If you are ok with them, fine have one.
  
  What your next door neighbor does regarding this doesn't affect you in the least. Why does this, along with gay marriage, create such a stir? As the law stands now, no one is going to force you to have an abortion against your will. However, I do know that JesusJuice Drinkers would love to make it so others could not get an abortion, or at the very least curb them dramatically. Usually these staunch anti-abortion folks are also of the political stripe that they hate any forms of welfare too. So they want to force a woman to have a child, yet no provide any financial assistance either. "They should work their butts off gosh darn it...no one helped me", is their usual refrain.
  
  We have a long way to go towards helping our own infant mortality rate. In fact a baby born in Washington DC, has a higher mortality rate than one born in Beijing. So until we take care of the babies already being born, let's not get too upset about those not being born. Also, there are many charitable organization out there that help women bring babies to term instead of aborting them. If you are so anti-abortion, let me ask: Are you putting your money where your mouth is by donating to these causes? Or volunteering? Or petitioning your lawmakers to change laws to help women to choose to bring babies to full term?

  It Seems That My Children Are Not Trained

  i just returned home from the kingdom hall.

  i am an elder.. after the meeting all the elders were called to the back room.

  i thought this was an impromptu elders' meeting.

  Gary, I understand what you are going through.
  
  When I left finally I was about 22. I figured if I was miserable for the next 60 years being a Witness I'd rather live a simple, peaceful, QUIET, life. When I go to visit my parents now, I get physically exhausted just being around them. My dad (who just recently stepped down as an elder) would have 10 phone calls a night to deal with. My mom, works part time and aux. pioneers every other month. So all it takes now is for me to visit them for a week and I get exhausted from all their running around. I'm about your age. I can't imagine working full time, have kids, have a wife that works full time, and be a good Witless family.
  
  My dad has been an elder since I was a kid. I've never seen him as happy or youthful looking as he has been now that he stepped down. He laughs more. He was on depression meds himself. Of course as any good Witless family I knew none of this. When I remarked to my mom how happy dad looked she finally broke down and told me he stepped down. Had been depressed and on meds for 2 years. Etc, et al.
  
  I used to HATE....HATE....HATE Saturday mornings and field service. Now, I love my weekends and wouldn't trade them for anything. Would a loving God really expect this much from you? Why did he give us life after all? As a Witless you never have time to stop and smell the roses. When I was a child my mom told me I would never go to school. Armegeddon would be here. Then I would never get to Junior High. Armeggedon would be here. Then I would never graduate high school. Armegeddon would be here. Me going to college was a waste of time. Armegeddon would be here. Now they are closing in on their retirement and having to ponder their own mortality. They don't talk about Armegeddon being right around the corner anymore.
  
  They talk about how they want to spend their few short years together, maybe getting a chance to do a couple of things they've always wanted to do but never had time. How incredibly sad is that. It makes my heart break at times knowing they sacrificed THEIR LIVES for us kids and a stupid F***ING cult!
